Like elsewhere in Indonesia, Bali also faces an escalating rubbish problem that surely affects its tourist sector. Many people in Bali throw their rubbish indiscriminately into the rivers, drains, surroundings, etc. The rubbish would flow with the water end up at our beautiful oceans and beaches. As shown in the picture, the drain in Jalan Imam Bonjol, Denpasar is loaded with domestic rubbish - a very common picture of the drains in Indonesia's big cities. Not a good view to enjoy for sure and it is potential to be mosquitoes breeding place and other pests.
Through GUS Education Project we intend to increase environmental awareness especially amongst the children in Bali. We not only show the severe damages to our environment, but also urge them to keep and to improve their environment. We focus on how to manage our rubbish properly and promote the 3 RE - Reduce, Reuse and Recycle for our rubbish. We believe that educating children is one way to make Bali a better place for us and the nature.
